The Millennium Stadium will host some of Wales’s largest companies as they compete in the Hugh James 7’s to raise funds for the NSPCC on Sunday 5 June.
The tournament, dubbed the ‘ultimate boardroom battle’, aims to raise a large amount of money for Building Brighter Futures appeal, thanks to the Millennium Stadium’s Community Events initiative which offers the venue free of hire charge for charitable organisations in Wales.
One day after Wales face the Barbarians at the home of Welsh rugby, 16 teams including Leekes, PMG, Atlantic Property Development, Castle Court Consulting, the Welsh Rugby Union and Hugh James will compete in a ‘Tag 7’s’knockout competition on the hallowed turf.
As well as enjoying the incredible experience of playing at Cardiff’s iconic sporting venue, teams will also be joined by the former Welsh rugby internationals for sale at the star player auction at the beginning of the day.
Friends, colleagues and families are encouraged to come along and support their teams for what promises to be a great day out with lots of entertainment throughout the day as well as the rugby.
Speaking about the tournament David Pickering, Chairman of the Welsh Rugby Union and the NSPCC’s Building Brighter Futures appeal board said:
“I am extremely grateful to Hugh James for their support in organising what promises to be a fantastic occasion and a major fundraiser for the NSPCC. Many people dream about the chance to play at our great stadium but very few actually get the chance to do it so I am delighted that some of our leading businesses will have the chance to reward their staff with this once in a lifetime experience and a make a difference to the lives of children in Wales at the same time.”
Emma Leeke, Managing Director of Leekes Retail, who has entered a team on her company’s behalf said:
“As a company we are very excited about participating in this fantastic event. We are committed to supporting a broad range of charitable work throughout the year but we are delighted that in this case we will be able to give some of our staff an incredible experience as well as improve the future for many children in Wales.”
