Welsh rugby has laid out a brand new welcome for the world’s media when they descend on the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for the start of the Autumn international series of matches against Australia, South Africa, Fiji and New Zealand.

The journalists, photographers and broadcasters will be greeted by a revamped media centre which boasts work stations for up to 150 people at any one time.

Up to 400 members of the media can attend major international games at the Millennium Stadium with some television broadcasts of games being beamed to more than 70 nations worldwide.

The Millennium Stadium has increased its capacity to almost double the previous number of desks supplied for journalists who send their words and pictures via internet connections to destinations worldwide.

The revamp of the Media Centre has been completed with a refit of the room which includes new desks, chairs a reception area and decor. The interior will be decorated with action pictures from famous rugby encounters to showcase the national sport of Wales.

The next stage is to devote one large area to photographic images of rugby clubs and their followers from across Wales.

A Millennium Stadium spokesperson said: “There is intense pressure on the media covering major events at the stadium and the facilities have to be of the highest standard.

“Few people get to witness the level of intensity which the games attract but we all enjoy watching the coverage and reading about the games the morning after they have been played.

“The first chance the rugby media will have of seeing the new centre is at the Wales v Australia match on November 6 and we are confident they will be impressed by the renovation.”

Saturday fixtures against the Wallabies, on 6th November, the Springboks, on 13th November and the All Blacks, on 27th November are priced at £25, £40, £60, £65 and £70, with the Friday night clash with Rugby World Cup Pool D opponents Fiji priced at just £20 and £10 for children.
