Set for its third visit to the home of Welsh sport, the Supercross event has turned into a real family favourite with more than 15,000 fans turning out in 2003 and again in 2004. The 2005 show is set to be every bit as thrilling as in the past with riders from all over the world ready to test themselves in all manner of petrol-fuelled feats.

Once again, the Millennium Stadium pitch will be removed and  8,000 tonnes of earth will be brought in to build a huge mound on which the riders will perform 60ft high jumps. There will be back flips, crazy leg kicks and many more dare-devil acts for an event that will also be showcasing the best young riding talent around with the World Youth Supercross Championship.

Top of the bill will be the American brothers Mike and Jeff Alessi. They dominate the world of Supercross with their amazing freestyle skills and immense courage. Mike, still only 17, will arrive having pocketed a major title, and cheque, in Geno, Italy recently. Another recent big winner on show will be Mike Craig, also from the United States, who has the AMA Supercross Championship in his locker after winning in Tampa.

Craig’s son, Mike, will also be in the thick of the action in the big-wheeled 85cc class. He faces tough opposition from Northern Ireland’s Edward Allingham and one of the sport’s biggest names and characters, Daniel Arnold of Pioneer Yamaha.

"The greatest riders and the biggest names in the sport will all be appearing indoors at the event on 3 December. It is another major sporting coup for the Millennium Stadium and we are expecting another sensational night in what has been a rather special year for the stadium," said Sergeant. "In order to add to the entertainment we have thrown in a special Invitation Race involving  six guest teams – Dirty Sanchez, Welsh Showbiz, ex-Welsh Internationals, Millennium Stadium and Welsh Media. There is also the chance for a company to sponsor this part of the evening’s entertainment and enter a four-strong team of their own.

"Stuart Cable is going to captain the Welsh Showbiz side and I’ve rather foolishly volunteered to lead the Millennium Stadium team. As the proud owner of Harley Davidson I’m really looking forward to putting my skills to the test in a real race environment, It will be great to be out there and playing a part in the fun.

"Rupert Moon will skipper the Millennium Stadium team and Paul Thorburn will head-up an ex-Welsh Internationals squad that will include Ieuan Evans, Nigel Walker and Neil Jenkins. We’ve persuaded BBC Wales newscaster Jason Mohammed to give it a go with the Welsh Media team and he is persuading Derek ‘The Weatherman’ Brockway to joing him."

The varied size of the bikes involved in the event means that in the World Youth competition there will be riders ranging from seven to 16. Tickets are £25 for adults and £13 for concessions in the Middle Tier and £18 and £10 in the Upper Tier. There are also Family Packages in both tiers (2 adults and 2 children) – £55 in the Middle Tier and £45 in the Upper Tier.
