The Stadium has been designed with independence in mind and it is our intention to provide accessible information about the Stadium’s facilities and use.

Accessible Ticketing

Principality Stadium is now working in collaboration with Nimbus Disability, using their Access Card technology in order to make ticketing and access to the stadium more inclusive for supporters with accessibility needs.

This process will allow supporters who require accessible tickets to book tickets for events at Principality Stadium online via the WRU’s ticketing platform, over the phone, or in person, at their own convenience. Access Card technology also offers greater privacy, as disabled supporters with access requirements will no longer need to carry supporting documents or explain their circumstances when purchasing tickets. Supporters will simply need to register in advance with one of Access Card’s team of experts who will then issue a card.

For help and support registering your Access Card, please click here.

Accessible Facilities

Access to Principality Stadium is across level plazas with no steps and no ramps steeper than 1:20. Spectators with accessible requirements enter Principality Stadium with all other spectators, through the same turnstiles and through the same entrances. At each gate there are accessible entry lanes to support our spectators with accessible requirements.

From the North Along the Riverwalk to Gate 1
From the East Across Westgate Plaza to Gate 3
From the South Across Millennium Plaza to Gates 6 & 7

If lift access is required, our stewarding team are on hand to direct spectators to nearby lifts as appropriate.

For spectators who require more than one companion, as outlined on their access card, companion tickets are provided free of charge.

Stewarding for Spectators with Accessible Requirements

A dedicated team of stewards with particular responsibilities for offering assistance to spectators with accessible requirements will be deployed at all appropriate locations within the Stadium, including all entry gates. Accessibility Stewards are easily identifiable with black and white tabards.

As part of Principality Stadium’s ongoing commitment to equal experiences, all stewards undertake regular disability awareness training.

Facilities For Visually Impaired Spectators

For WRU events, commentary earpieces can be requested by customers with the relevant Access Card symbols on their account. For more information on this facility, please email customercare@wru.wales.

Guide Dogs

In order to provide sufficient room and comfort for the dogs, seat locations will be restricted to the wheelchair terracing. For WRU events, Spectators with the assistance animal symbol on their access card will have the ability to book the most suitable seats online via WRU E-ticketing website.

This process may vary for third party events, for event specific information please email customercare@wru.wales.

Quiet Room

The quiet room is located opposite block 426 and offers a comfortable and calming environment for spectators with specific needs to take a moment away from the busy stadium for a short period when needed. The quiet room is able to accommodate a maximum of three spectators, including one companion each. For access to the quiet room please speak to your nearest steward.

Medical Exemption Policy

Despite the stadium’s Bag Policy, Principality Stadium understands that some supporters will need to bring bags that do not meet these requirements into the stadium for medical reasons. In order to do so, confirmation of exemption.

Please note, if your medication or equipment fits within a A4 bag you do not need medical exemption.

All requests for exemption must be submitted by emailing customercare@wru.wales and providing supporting information no later than five days before the event. We will be unable to issue an exception on event day.

Once approved, we’ll email you confirmation of your exemption and will inform the stewarding team on your entry gate of your exemption.

Please be aware that all supporters with exemption confirmation will still need to have their bags searched and tagged at their dedicated accessible entrance before entering the stadium.

Emergency Evacuation

Principality Stadium recognises that the safety and welfare of spectators is paramount in the successful operation of the Stadium. It has to plan carefully for every eventuality, and emergency evacuation procedures have been developed by Stadium Management in consultation with the Safety Committee of the Local Authority.

The evacuation plan will depend on the location of any incident and the location of wheelchair positions. For example, different procedures will be followed for the spaces on Levels 4 & 6 compared to those at Level 3. Spectators are requested at all times to follow the directions and advice of the appointed stewards. Dedicated lifts will be available for the evacuation of wheelchair users at Levels 4, 5 and 6.

Wheelchair Accessible Terraces

Provision for wheelchair users is available throughout the ground at all levels.

Level 3 158 spaces plus 269 companions
Level 4 28 spaces plus 28 companions
Level 6 28 spaces plus 28 companions

Provision at Level 3 is flexible to allow various combinations of wheelchair users, friends and family subject to prior notification to our Supporter Services Team (customercare@wru.wales). Spaces on the upper levels are reached via lifts and level access. All Level 5 Hospitality Boxes are wheelchair accessible via lifts and level access.

Stadium Wheelchairs

Ten wheelchairs supplied by Invacare (UK) Ltd are available for use by spectators at Principality Stadium to provide easy, escorted access to their seats. Please note that these chairs cannot be pre-booked, however, disabled team stewards are deployed at all entrances prior to kick off and provide highly efficient customer care before and after the game.

Principality Stadium wheelchairs cannot be used in the wheelchair bays – wheelchairs must be available to use at all times and cannot be booked for a whole event’s use. Spectators wishing to hire wheelchairs in Cardiff can do so via the local Shopmobility or Bush Healthcare.

Principality Stadium is indebted to the Wooden Spoon Charity for its support in the provision of wheelchair terraces at the Stadium and in facilities for wheelchair users at the refreshment outlets.
